[1]《新遗诏书》名义上是麦都思、郭实腊、裨治文和马儒翰四人翻译小组合作之成果,但实际上可以理解为麦都思一人之译作,见Alexander Wylie.Memorials of Protestant Missionaries to the Chinese,Giving a List of Their Publications,and Obituary Notices of the Deceased.Shanghai:American Presbyterian Mission Press,1867,p.31.此外,《新遗诏书》独署“尚德者纂”,且《新遗诏书》的福音书明显脱胎于麦都思早期编译作品《福音调和》,皆可为证。
